Bill C-22, the Canada Disability Benefit Act, has just passed a review by the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills, and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities.
The bill will now go to a 3rd and final reading in the House of Commons. If it is passed with a majority of votes, it will go to the Senate, and if passed by the Senate will receive royal assent, turning it into law.
It should be noted that the Senate very rarely rejects bills approved by the lower house, so what happens on the 3rd reading and following vote is the most crucial step in passing the bill.
The Canada Disability Benefit would provide extra and much needed financial support for people with disabilities across Canada.
